Introduction to Wu Hsu Yao

 

Wu is an internationally renowned artist who studied electrical engineering. His diverse mindset came from experience of working for publishing and gaming industries. Since 2000s he has been invited to hold solo and joint exhibitions in Japan. Using “Potassium cyanide” as alias, published partook in various drawings about the history and fantasy literature of Taiwan during the era of Japanese occupation. 

 

Using Taiwan’s history as the topics of his works, Wu was devoted to field studies and archival research. The works show his broad understanding and careful application of historical facts. His most impressive work was created based on Cyberpunk topics. He applied the incorporates mechanics with organic objects, further paired with a style of viewing from within, Wu’s works present his delicate and detailed painting skills and examinations on forms of life and eternal existence.

Education
1990 Department of Electrical Engineering, Changhua Tatung Vocational High School
After graduation, worked with Tokyotosho Co., Ltd. (Japan), publishing two comic book series
