Liu Hui Chung

Introduction to Liu Hui Chung

After graduating from the Department of Fine Arts at National Taipei University of the Arts in 2012, Liu Hui Chung immediately went to study at the University of Seville in Spain and obtained a master’s degree. He has received numerous honors and recognition both domestically and internationally, and has been a resident artist in the Antonio Gala Foundation’s program for nurturing young artists. His works are collected by institutions in Spain, Belgium, and other countries.

Liu Hui Chung excels in portraying dreamlike and surreal scenes, particularly through techniques such as personifying objects and transforming textures to create a sense of dissonance, revealing the absurdity of the world. His creations draw inspiration from literature, poetry, nursery rhymes, music, and even dreams, intertwining with a picturesque style that exudes seclusion and mystery. Within the familiar imagery of everyday life, he employs techniques of estrangement to extend the contradictions between reality and truth.
