Introduction to anothermountainman

Stanley Wong (b. 1960, Hong Kong), out of respect for the late Ming and early Qing Dynasty painter Bada Shanren, adopted the pseudonym “anothermountainman.”

He represented Hong Kong at the 51st Venice Biennale with his iconic “Red White Blue” series. His works in the fields of art, design, photography, and advertising have garnered over 600 awards in Asia and internationally, including two Gold Pencils from the One Show in the USA, a Yellow Pencil from D&AD in the UK, and the Tokyo TDC Award. He was also honored with the Artist of the Year Award (Visual Arts) at the 2011 Hong Kong Arts Development Awards and the Contemporary Art Award by the Hong Kong Museum of Art in 2012. In 2019, he held a major solo exhibition, “A Witness to Time,” at the Hong Kong Heritage Museum and was named the DFA World’s Outstanding Chinese Designer in 2020.

He excels in engaging with social issues through his works, creating space for reflection. His exhibitions have been showcased in over a hundred venues in Hong Kong and worldwide, and his works are included in the permanent collections of renowned museums, including M+ and the Victoria and Albert Museum in London.
