Taiwanese artist Lo Chan Peng, currently based in the U.S., will open his first solo exhibition in America, “The Dream of Yūgen”, on July 19 at Corey Helford Gallery, Los Angeles. Named after the Japanese aesthetic concept yūgen, the exhibition offers a contemplative exploration of cultural displacement, identity, and the craft of being human.
Lo’s 2025 new series blends techniques drawn from ukiyo-e, ink wash, iwa-enogu (mineral pigments), and burnt silver foil (shōhaku), forming a richly layered reflection on Oriental sensibilities in contemporary visual language.
Lo Chan Peng remarks: “As AI generates images in milliseconds, I believe that in the redefinition of humanity, ‘humanity’ and ‘craftsmanship’ will become our final frontiers.”
Friends in Los Angeles are warmly invited to experience this profound visual meditation in person.
