Kan Kiu Sin

Introduction to Kan Kiu Sin

Tobe Kan (b.1984, Hong Kong) obtained her Bachelor (Fine Art) degree co-presented by RMIT University and Hong Kong Art School in 2017. Immersed in the study of psychoanalysis, her works primarily explore her own experiences and the human psyche, delving into various causal relationships.

In recent years, blue has been the predominant color in her paintings, serving as a means to explore the concept of thresholds in her artwork. She focuses on various situations related to alienation or being forgotten, examining the relationship between “existence” and “distance,” with the intention of presenting the subtle feelings of drifting between dream and reality and blurring the boundaries between different times of the day. Additionally, she emphasizes the displacement of time, allowing audiences to feel as if they are “suspended in a space that is neither entirely day nor entirely night.”
