Introduction to Liang Yu Hsuan
Liang Yu Hsuan specializes in portraying different scenes to recreate the emotional consciousness of those moments. He abstracts the imagery from hue, sound, and objective time, not only reconstructing a simulated painting space but also imbuing his works with the opposite attribute of deconstruction. This allows him to present narrative spatiality in a more elusive manner, inviting viewers to explore his painted world.
Inspired by Shinji Ohmaki’s “Critical Air – Time and Space,” Liang Yu Hsuan is enamored with the fragile and eternal states depicted in the artwork. Starting from 2016, he embarked on a creative series centered around the theme of “bubbles,” delicately laying out a sense of “perpetual ephemerality on the verge of collapse.” In his artwork, he not only presents various feelings of ambiguity and uncertainty resulting from the intermingling of factors such as self and environment but also depicts individual emotional consciousness in different scenes. The transparent bubbles seem weightless yet carry an undeniable spiritual depth. The space devoid of human traces allows consciousness to spread within through the flow of light, air, and temperature. The realistic painting style eliminates brushstrokes and blurs the line between reality and illusion; the refined imagery fully embodies his train of thought.
In this indescribable time and space, the artist, through his brush, slowly records various uncertainties, both significant and trivial. Amidst the clear and sudden repetitive overlays, he simultaneously portrays the spiritual states of consciousness and unconsciousness. His paintings resemble mirrors, reflecting not the material appearance but the consciousness, spirit, and extremely subtle flow paths. They earnestly convey a state of mind that persists amidst nature and constraints.
